Are you ready to see your annual stats? While I work on my 2021 roundup post, I thought I’d post about the movies that brought you to HFAS in 2021!
This year I saw a 40% increase in unique visitors and pageviews. HFAS averaged over 8,000 visitors a month in 2021!! To determine what the most popular movies were, the ONLY criteria for creating this list was this: how many visitors did each synopsis have? Now, I know that it’s tough because some movies are newer and may not have as many views, but I think in the end the list is pretty accurate.
10. Gingerbread Miracle (Oct 31)
9. The Santa Stakeout (Oct 24)
8. Coyote Creek Christmas (Oct 30)
7. An Unexpected Christmas (Nov 26)
6. Nine Kittens of Christmas (Nov 25)
5. Boyfriends of Christmas Past (Oct 23)
4. Five More Minutes (Nov 21)
3. Next Stop, Christmas (Nov 6)
2. Crashing Through the Snow (July 10)
1. My Christmas Family Tree (Nov 13) – I’ve been watching the stats since the Christmas movies started, and once this movie aired it quickly shot to the #1 spot in the stats. There’s something about this movie that resonated with people and the stats definitely reflect that. It is far and away the most popular 2021 Christmas movie based on visitors to this website since the Countdown to Christmas began in October.
The one big surprise about this list is that A Dickens of a Holiday! didn’t crack the top ten, given the amount of chatter on social media about that movie being next level for a Hallmark movie. However, of the movies that were released in December, it is the #1 that brought people to HFAS. I suspect had it been released in November it would have definitely cracked Top 10.
Anyone who has seen it knows that Kris Polaha had a truly breakthrough moment in that movie and showed that he is one of the best leading men (if not THE best) on Hallmark and a truly fantastic actor who is doing more than just picking up a paycheck. And that movie was so good I wrote up one of the longest and most in-depth reviews I’ve EVER done on this website.
As for non-Christmas movies, there were three movies that far and away brought the most visitors here throughout 2021. Those three were: 3) Her Pen Pal, 2) Chasing Waterfalls, and 1) It Was Always You. For a long time, IWAY was the undoubted winner, but at some point Waterfalls came on strong and ended the year only 154 views behind IWAY!
Lastly, I want to say THANK YOU to all of the visitors that have come to this site – whether this is your first time here, or you come every week to check out my synopses. This site has grown thanks to my fellow Hallmarkies that visit me here. So, thank you!
Comment below and let me know what YOUR personal favorite Hallmark Christmas movie was in 2021!
Happy New Year! I wonder why Chasing Waterfalls was that high, it didn’t have any big names and it was pretty boring.
I’ve no idea, Brendan! The increased views definitely came several months after the movie originally aired, so there was something about it that connected with people. I know for me I loved the song near the end of the movie.
Yes, I absolutely love An Unexpected Christmas!
As for throughout the year, Her Pen Pal was such a wonderful treat. I pre-ordered it on Amazon. Looking fwd to it arriving in January.
My favorite movies this season were Next Stop, Christmas, the Santa Stakeout, and Dickens of a Holiday. I didn’t catch many of the year round movies though. Happy New Year!
My favourites this year were A Dickens of a Christmas, An Unexpected Christmas, My Christmas Family Tree, Tis the Season to Be Merry, Eight Gifts of Hanukah and A Royal Queens Christmas. So we agreed on a good chunk there!
Yes, those were all good too. The movies were so good this year it was hard to narrow it down!
Five More Minutes was my absolute favorite! It pulled on my heart strings. And I
love this blog!
Thank you for the kind words, Carol! And Nikki DeLoach is fabulous in just about anything she does!!
