This weekend (Saturday, August 15) we have another new movie, “Wedding Every Weekend,” featuring two of my favorite Hallstars, Kimberly Sustad and Paul Campbell. Sustad starred in one of Hallmark’s most popular Christmas movies, “Nine Lives of Christmas” while Campbell was the lead in one of my all-time favorite Hallmark Christmas movies, 2013’s “Window Wonderland” (which isn’t on my overall rankings page because I keep waiting for Hallmark Channel to re-air it so that I can watch it with my scoring categories in mind).
“Weekend” was written by Julie Sherman Wolfe, who since 2015 has been responsible for some pretty fun Hallmark movies. She was behind the pen for The Christmas Club and Christmas in Montana, both movies that I liked in 2019. Other non-Christmas offerings include The Birthday Wish and Summer in the Vineyard, two very popular movies with Hallmarkies.
Here is the plot of “Wedding Every Weekend”:
Nate and Brooke are going to the same four weddings, four weekends in a row. To avoid set-ups, they go together as “wedding buddies.” But what starts as a friendship soon becomes deeper.
That plot sounds perfect. I love the idea of two new friends agreeing to suffer through wedding season together. Back when I was single, if my own life mirrored theirs (multiple weddings in one summer) I almost definitely would harken on a friend to be my plus one for all of them.

A note: I know this movie is a bit controversial due to one of the weddings being featured, and that commenters may feel the need to post their opinions about a wedding that will probably only get 30 seconds of screen time out of 94 minutes. But let’s keep it civil, folks!

My family watched Hallmark channel on Sunday, having recorded the movie, “Wedding Every Weekend”. We were appalled. We have cancelled our subscription with frndlytv and will no longer endorse Hallmark as a family friendly channel. We are so disappointed as we had really enjoyed the stars in this film. But the controversy is real and if we had known the content, we would have never watched it. Unfortunately, if we have to look up recommendations on every movie we watch, then Hallmark is just like any other channel. Family friendly should mean the whole family should be able to watch it. I wouldn’t recommend this, however, to anyone.
I’m surprised you weren’t aware of it before watching the movie. This movie was in the news quite a bit the week before it aired, and there’s been no secret. The commercials show the wedding, the poster shows the couple, the media was posting about it constantly the entire week before it aired. Folks on Twitter were tweeting about it, and folks on Facebook posting about it. Unless you do not have access to ANY media or
news outside of frndlytv, you would have been hard-pressed to not know in advance.
This afternoon I watched “Wedding Every Weekend”. First I want to say I am a fan of Hallmark Movies and enjoy the work of actors Paul Campbell and Kim Sustad. I subscribe to Sling for one reason – Hallmark channels. My family and I enjoy watching your programming because your movies are who!esome family entertainment with very little bad language, no nudity or significant sexual innuendos, and lack of push toward liberal LGBT agenda. You danced around an LGBT subplot once before but this movie was in-your-face with two women marrying and kissing. I had always thought Hallmark had a moral compass and chose to stand out as different despite pressures from Hollywood and the big Advertising Companies. Has this changed? God loves all his creation but is very clear that his will is to be followed and that homosexuality is wrong (Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11). His will is the first and last word on any issue. A man leaves his family and be united with his wife and the two will become one flesh (Ephesians 5:31, Matthew 19:4-6 Genesis 1:27-28,2:24). I plead with you on behalf of the large component of your viewership to stop this programming direction.
I just want to say that this site is not associated with Hallmark in any way, so when you say “you” and “your” be advised you are not speaking to anyone at Hallmark Channel but to me, a woman who likes and reviews Hallmark stuff. 🙂
