A Preview of “The Santa Stakeout”

I think almost everyone agrees that this weekend’s movie starring Tamera Mowry-Housley, Paul Campbell, and Joe Pantoliano is one to watch. JOEY PANTS on Hallmark?  That’s going to be amazing to see. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for that project pitch to him.  “The Santa Stakeout” airs this Sunday, October 24 at 8 p.m. ET.

Sadly, because Hallmark has been so delayed on posting any information about this year’s movies, I cannot rely on IMDb to provide me with many of the details I can normally find about a movie before it airs. However, I do know that regular Hallmark actor Peter Benson directed this one (he also directed Sweet Carolina earlier this year). Also, Gregg Rossen & Brian Sawyer provided the screenplay.

Here is the plot of “The Santa Stakeout” as listed on the Hallmark Channel website:

Tanya is a police detective who is reluctantly partnered with fellow detective Ryan to solve a recent string of heists taking place during high-profile holiday parties around town. They go undercover as newlyweds Tasha and Rupert, moving into the vacant house next to Mr. Miller, the jovial chair of the community’s Christmas committee…and the prime suspect in the case. As Tanya and Ryan partake in the neighborhood’s holiday happenings to keep up appearances and crack the case, they get swept up in Christmas. Before they know it, their cover story as a couple in love starts to become reality.

And here is a sneak peek of what we can expect Sunday night:

A great director, a fantastic cast, and a fun, comedic plot makes be confident that this movie will be fantastic.

What do you think?  Are you excited about “The Santa Stakeout?”

I've been a fan of Hallmark movies for as long as I can remember. In 2018 I decided it was finally time to write about it, and thus this website was born.

  1. I was disappointed some of the favorite pairs weren’t doing anything together like Paul Campbell and Kimberley Sustad or Nikki Deloach and Michael Rady.

    1. While I also love certain pairings (and gush about them often), I don’t mind seeing unexpected pairings that I wouldn’t have thought of myself. For instance, with the Tamera/Paul pairing – I think that’s great because she comes from a sitcom background and he is known for being very funny, so this pair should be a LOT of fun to watch!
