I’m looking forward to “Love in Iceland,” which airs Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 9 pm/8c, for one reason and one reason only: I REALLY WANT TO GO TO ICELAND. Seriously, it looks GORGEOUS. I love cold weather (fun fact: one of my bucket list items is to spend a year working on Antarctica) and Iceland looks right up my alley.
Wanna know another reason I want to go to Iceland? They have very few bugs. Because it is so cold there, they have no mosquitoes, no cockroaches, and very few spiders. Oh sure, the island country may have a lot of active volcanoes that can blow at any minute, but I’d much rather deal with an erupting volcano than get trapped in a room because a giant spider is between me and the door to get out (note: that happened to me).
One thing I like about this movie is that the plot sounds fun and a bit different from a typical Hallmark movie. Here is the plot of “Love on Iceland,” as outlined from the Hallmark Channel website:
Seeking inspiration for work, Chloe gathers her college travel group back together for a trip to Iceland. When her ex, a member of the group, shows up uninvited, sparks fly.
I love the idea of college pals continuing to get together for fun travels long after graduation. While I don’t do those trips myself, I know several people from my college days who DO get together at least one weekend a year, and have done it for a few decades. Some of my gal pals and I have talked about getting together for a weekend at a lake that is central to almost all of us, but we can never get our schedules in sync, so it hasn’t happened. I love that this movie has a focus on long-term friendship among college classmates.
What I don’t love is the title of the movie. “Love on Iceland?” Really? That’s the best we can come up with? I’m not necessarily the most creative person on the planet, but put me at a desk for an hour and I’ll bet I could come up with a short list of better movie titles. And if I can’t, I know a lot of super-creative people who could.
Here’s a sneak peek clip of what we can expect on Saturday night:
After the disappointment from last weekend’s movie, I hope this is a good one. I think I’ll love it mainly because it was at least partially shot on location. What do you think? Are you excited about “Love on Iceland?”
