It’s officially “bonus” season, when the movies Hallmark Channel presents don’t belong to any particular season or holiday. This week is a little bit different in that it was an acquisition movie made by another movie studio, and purchased by Hallmark. “Bad Date Chronicles” was actually filmed back in 2017! It is airing Saturday, February 28 at 9 p.m. on Hallmark Channel and stars Merritt Patterson, Justin Kelly and Giles Panton (the proverbial Hallmark Other Guy who needs to become a lead SOON!).
The movie has some real pedigree behind it. It was written by Rick Garman, whose iMDb is almost exclusively Hallmark movie scripts, including “Christmas in Evergreen,” “Valentine in the Vineyard,” and “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” just to name a few. Steven R. Monroe directs, he being at the helm for “Christmas in Homestead,” “Marrying Mr. Darcy” and “Love to the Rescue,” among many others.
Here is the plot of “Bad Date Chronicles,” as outlined from the Hallmark Channel website:
Leigh runs the website Bad Date Chronicles, which allows people to post date experiences. When rival blogger Conner becomes the subject of one of her posts, they agree to date each other to see which one is the bad dater.
Y’all, I just think this movie sounds FUN. I think if they come hard with the cringey comedy that is built in with bad dates (I’ve been on a few myself), this movie could be one that ranks pretty high with me.
Here’s a sneak peek clip of what we can expect on Saturday night:
