“A Godwink Christmas: Second Chance, First Love” aired on November 22, 2020 on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel. It starred Brooke D’Orsay and Sam Page. It was directed by Heather Hawthorn Doyle with a screenplay by John Tinker and Jamie Pachino. Pachino was also a writer for the 2nd Godwink movie as well as this year’s “Holly & Ivy.” This is Doyle’s first time running a Hallmark film. It was filmed in Abbotsford in British Columbia, which is a popular Hallmark shooting location. In fact, I *think* the shop used for C&Co in this movie was the same shop used in Wedding Every Weekend.
In a nutshell
While the movie was fine for the most part, I fell asleep no less than 3 times with only 20 minutes to go in the movie and kept having to rewind it. I just was not invested enough in this story to stay awake!
Plot of “A Godwink Christmas: Second Chance, First Love”
After 15 years, Pat moves home from Hawaii with his two sons and through a series of coincidences, or Godwinks, ends up stuck in traffic next to his high school sweetheart, Margie at Christmas.
Actors
I’ve always like Brooke D’Orsay. Sam Page I’m a bit iffy on. Sometimes I like him, sometimes I don’t. I found that I liked him a lot in this one compared to other movies he’s done. The actor I really liked in this movie was Michele Scarabelli, who played Pat’s mom. I thought she was great.
Chemistry
I’m not sure how much chemistry I felt from Page and D’Orsay together, although I definitely felt more chemistry between them than I did between D’Orsay and Zahf Paroo, who played Scott, her initial boyfriend and co-worker. I enjoyed him much more in A Timeless Christmas (he played the museum’s butler).
Tropes
We had quite a few. Two front porches, single dad, kids, high school sweethearts, a character returning to his hometown, cookie baking, hot cocoa, tree shopping, making snowmen (real snow!), snowball fight, decorating the tree, and of course, a Christmas market/festival.

Did I Hear/See That Right?
He sold a company and can’t take a break for the holidays? How low was the sale price? I don’t understand how it was so urgent that he get a job right away. If Pat lived in Hawaii for 17 years AND was able to build a successful adventure company as a result, why was there such urgency to get a new job? Did he make so little profit on the sale?
Feelgoods
Nothing that stood out, except the vintage car was gorgeous. My son makes fun of me whenever I comment about how pretty a car is – he claims I’m faking a love of cars. But while I may not know the details behind what makes a car great, I know when a car’s lines speak to me.
Re-watchability
Not likely. Of the three Godwink movies, the only one I really liked was the first one with Paul Campbell and Kimberly Sustad.

I really loved this Christmas special….there are so many good ones out there, but I can’t watch them all. The actors and actresses were funny, and played their parts with honesty and strength…I’d watch it again. Many thanks for all the effort it took to make it.
