We finally have a new (to us) movie on Hallmark Channel this weekend! YAY! “How to Train Your Husband,” debuts this Saturday evening, May 16 at 9 p.m. ET on the Hallmark Channel.
This movie was originally released in 2018 to another network but acquired by Hallmark for their 2020 movie roster. It stars Hallmark favorite, Julie Gonzalo, as well as new-to-Hallmark Jonathan Chase. Chase has been an actor for a long time, and when looking at his acting history he’s a “that guy” actor. This means that you recognize him from somewhere and then say, “Oh, he’s THAT GUY” when you realize who he is. “Train” also appears to be the first Hallmark outing for writer/director Sandra L. Martin.
Here is the plot of “How to Train Your Husband,” according to Hallmark Channel:
Jillian is a successful marriage therapist and best-selling author. Her career is going just as planned but her own marriage with grad school sweetheart Justin isn’t as successful. Jillian is an expert in marriages and has wisdom to spare for her clients but seldom listens to her own advice. With help from her mother and friends Nicole and Aaron, she is hoping to figure out ‘the secrets to a happy marriage.’ But when Jillian finally realizes how she’s taken Justin for granted and wants to make amends, it might be too late.
I like Julie Gonzalo a lot, and this is definitely a different kind of movie than what Hallmark typically shows nowadays. They rarely show friends-become-lovers storylines (although yes, I can think of a couple off the top of my head, such as Over the Moon In Love and “Very, Very Valentine”). I’m looking forward to seeing this movie, and NOT just because I’m finally getting a new movie on my Hallmark Saturday night!
And here’s a sneak peek clip of what we can expect on Saturday night:
