A Preview of “The Secret Ingredient”

This week’s Love Ever After movie, “The Secret Ingredient,” airs Saturday, February 15 at 9 p.m. on Hallmark Channel.  The movie is based on the Nancy Naigle novel of the same name. For those that follow Hallmark writers, they will know that Nancy Naigle has penned the stories for two other Hallmark movies, “Hope at Christmas,” and “Christmas Joy,” as well as the novelizations of the first two “Evergreen” movies.

The movie stars Erin Cahill, who has the most amazing cheekbones of any Hallstar out there, and Brendan Penny, a fan favorite. I believe this is their first pairing together, so it will be interesting to see their chemistry together. Here is the plot of “The Secret Ingredient,” as outlined from the Hallmark Channel website:

Small-town baker, Kelly, gets a big surprise when she is invited to compete on a Valentine’s Day baking show in New York City – and an even bigger surprise when she runs into her ex-fiance.

Hallmark has gone to this “cooking with a former flame” well a couple of times over the years, most recently with 2018’s Just Add Romance starring Meghann Fahy and Luke Macfarlane.  It worries me that the two stories may be a bit too similar.  This time around viewers may recognize that Hallmark Channel snagged celebrity chef Maneet Chauhan to be the host of the cooking show.

Here’s a sneak peek clip of what we can expect on Saturday night:

The clip doesn’t really show too much, which is surprising since normally the commercials for movies show too much.  So in that regard, I really like the preview.  I also am becoming a huge fan of Erin Cahill (I liked her a lot in last year’s Love Fall & Order), so I’m looking forward to this movie.

What do you think?  Are you excited about “The Secret Ingredient?”

I've been a fan of Hallmark movies for as long as I can remember. In 2018 I decided it was finally time to write about it, and thus this website was born.
