Only a couple more days, people! Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas is finally about to start! I already have hot cocoa at the ready for Friday night. I previewed Hallmark Channel’s first movie a couple days ago, but the first movie of the season is actually airing on Friday, October 25, on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel.
Their first new movie is “A Merry Christmas Match” co-starring Ashley Newbrough and Kyle Dean Massey. Hallmark fans probably recognize Ashley Newbrough from last year’s charming, “Small Town Christmas” co-starring Kristoffer Polaha (and my #1 Christmas movie last year). She has been in a few other Christmas movies, including “Snowmance” with Jesse Hutch, about a snowman that comes to life after a girl makes a wish. It’s a very cute movie. Kyle Dean Massey is new to the Hallmark family, but he has been around for a while, starring on Broadway in several productions, as well as the tv show “Nashville.”
The plot sounds interesting:
Corey lives in a ski village where she works at her mother’s local antique shop and is the director of a local Christmas pageant in honor of her father. When a man named Ryder visits her store, sparks fly and she wonders if she should have left town to follow her dream of becoming a theater director.
I’m looking forward to another trope-heavy movie – this one may have even more than “Christmas Wishes” which airs the next night. Here’s a preview (which features the obligatory empty coffee cups in at least one scene):
I hope this is a good one, although I admit that sometimes I’m reticent when it features an actor or actress with whom I am not familiar (as is the case this time around with Kyle Dean Massey). But I’m willing to set that feeling aside and trust that this movie is going to give me all the Christmas feels on premiere night.
What about you? Is this one you are looking forward to seeing? Comment below!
